2012 Oct 16

Ashli Paije Beaudry from Buford, Ga., participated in the Gainesville Theatre Alliance WonderQuest production of "The Frog Prince" in Brenau University's Pearce Auditorium. Beaudry is a freshman at Brenau University majoring in theater design and technology. She worked on the paint crew and served as usher for the WonderQuest show "The Frog Prince." She is a graduate of Buford High School in Buford, Ga.

In the play, set in the fiery land of anywhen, a place where magical spells, fairy godmothers and spare princesses abound, a frog meets a royal scientist – that is, an unassuming prince meets a scientific princess. Through the trials of dueling suitors, spells gone awry and broken promises, these two learn that, while magic can bring you together, only true loyalty can bring you love. Filled with Latin flair and hilarious characters, the play is a new spin on a classic fairy tale. Written by Gay H. Hammond and based on the story by the Brothers' Grimm, the play ran Sept. 26 to Oct. 6 on Brenau's Gaineville campus.

"The Frog Prince" production was a collaboration of work by students and faculty of Brenau University and Gainesville State College working with professionals at every level. WonderQuest is the young audiences division of the Gainesville Theatre Alliance, a nationally acclaimed collaboration which has brought high-level drama and musical performances involving students, community theater amateurs and professionals to stages at the two institutions.
