Geanna Funes from Calhoun, Georgia, was nominated for the Baxter Bryan Scholarship Award, the top academic award at Brenau University. She was recognized for this achievement during Brenau's Honors Convocation ceremony April 12, 2018, in Pearce Auditorium.

Funes is a class of 2019 student majoring in musical theater and acting. She is a graduate of Calhoun High School.
