Brenau University's Madison Strickland of Gainesville, Ga., is on Brenau's nationally ranked Golden Tigers Softball Team. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll ranked the Brenau team No. 17 in the nation.

Strickland is a junior majoring in Biology at Brenau.

High national rankings in the past few seasons have become commonplace for Brenau Softball Coach Devon Thomas's squad. In 2011 the Brenau team came close to the national title game but a one-run loss in the semifinals cost them the chance, and they finished 4th in the nation after moving up in the coaches' poll all season long. Last season, the team finished at No. 20 with a 34-16 record. However, the Golden Tigers return 10 players from last year's squad, including an NAIA All-American selection.
