The Beauford's Smokehouse cook team of Kennesaw, Ga., Competed in the 5th Annual Brenau University Barbecue Championship

The Beauford's Smokehouse cook team from Kennesaw, Ga., competed in the fifth annual Brenau Barbecue Championship festival May 24-25 on Brenau University's campus in Gainesville, Ga. The competition was sanctioned by the national Memphis Barbecue Network and the Georgia Barbecue Association. The team won fourth place in the GBA Ribs category. Jay Trotter was the team captain.

Brenau's annual fundraising event for scholarships is a catalyst for community activity on the Gainesville campus. Dixie-Que of Macon, Ga., and Smokin' 42 Barbecue from Tifton, Ga., earned rights to compete in the World Food Championships in Las Vegas after winning Grand Champion status in the Memphis Barbecue Network and Georgia Barbecue Association competitions.
